1999 Haut Brion Pessac Leognan

A whiff and I already knew this was an exceptional wine that I’ll definitely fall in love with, the nose was so elegant and so addictive, one can nose it whole day without getting tired of it! Content was so feminine and so elegant I can’t find fault with the wine. Frankly, Haut Brion ranked easily my best favorite amongst all the first growth for such reason, it was just too ridiculously addictive. Unfortunately this wine was way too young, I clocked almost half an hour sitting in my glass (to let it open up a bit more) but I noticed hardly any evolution. Even though 1999 wasn’t my favorite vintage for Bordeaux, surely this Haut Brion 1999 was truly an exception I will not hesitate to put my bets on it being one of the best wines I’ve encountered for Bordeaux 1999 (the rest mostly came from Pomerol).

AVERAGE HAUT BRION 一般的侯柏王
Was served blind, not able to guess this as the first growth Haut Brion coming from Graves. Very powerful nose, slightly creamy, earthy and even with a bit of cabbage. Palate was light and lively and very elegant. I left it in the glass and it seemed to have gone downhill within 30 45 mins, was surprised Haut Brion when revealed and a bit too quick to go downhill.
盲品了这杯酒，完全不能猜到是一级庄的侯柏王。非常强烈的香果味充斥了杯子，有点土的味道，还有白菜。内容轻松但是清淡，很温柔。我放在杯子里，过了大概30 45分钟的时候再品，感觉酒体已经在走下坡了，没有想到这个年份这样弱。
