1999 Jean Chartron Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru Clos des Chevaliers Monopole
PUZZLED MONOPOLE
Why would there be walls around this Chevalier Montrachet plot? And why would it have the naming rights to be a Monopole in Chevalier Montrachet? I can't find the answer, so please enlighten me.
Wine was luckily still alive without premox's ugly face, although I'd say 99 was at the borderline of drinking window and had to be consumed soon. I enjoyed the deep, rich and elegance of this wine. As usual, we're crazy enough to pair this with fiery spicy Szechuan dish of water boiled catfish.
