2000 Chateau Hosanna Pomerol
This was the second vintage after JP Moueix (owner of the famed Petrus, Trotanoy, Magdelaine … etc) acquired Hosanna in 1999. By now, we all knew JP Moueix really knew how to make great wines in Pomerol, thus I do have high expectation of Ch Hosanna. Bouquet was with some cork taint of dry cupboard, but it’s definitely not TCA infected wine, as this is quite typical of Bordeaux wines, if after 20 mins the cupboard smell faded away, then it’ll not be a cork taint, and this Hosanna proved itself to be replaced with very elegant, stewed ripe fruits. Palate was impressive, superbly balanced and refined elegance and finesse was the highlight of the wine, in no way it’s overpowering like the 2001 vintage. Absolutely fabulous great start for Hosanna. One can certainly rest their faith with knowhow of Pomerol winemaking with the JP Moueix family.
