2000 X Gardinier & Fils Phelan Segur Saint Estephe
FRENCH VOILAH
Finally I felt more at home when a bottle of Bordeaux is served! This St Estephe wine was too heavily oaked, as I smelled and tasted mostly vanilla, unlike other St Estephe. Fruits are refined with good finesse, which I think the maker should not over oak their wines, and it'll still do well, since this good vintage does not need to be masked with oaks unlike a poor vintage. Felt sorry for the winemaker.
