2001 Domaine Armand Rousseau Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques
VERTICAL ROUSSEAU CLOS ST JACQUES
We finally managed to arrange for a vertical tasting of Armand Rousseau Clos St Jacques with vintages of 62, 93, 96, 99, 01, 02, 04, 08 present. Takeaway was that Rousseau CsJ is extremely consistent throughout vintages. Consensus vote was 96 as #1, 93 as #2 and 01 as #3.
Wine color was misleading being light brick red, makes me think 93 or 96. Nose is extremely muted. Body richness was much lesser than better vintages, traced slight dilution and very dry. My #6 tonight.
