2001 Sociando Mallet Haut Medoc
OVERSTATEMENT?
Parker said, it tasted more like a first growth than an unclassified offering, implying this bottle of this vintage was equivalent of a first growth status? What a joke, we should all drink Sociando Mallet from now onwards.
Nose was green with capsicums. Content was more like a beefed up grape juice to me, although the oak influences was substantial. Perhaps Parker was referring to the oak influence, as no right frame of mind would I refer this to be an equivalent of first growth! Joke!

CHOCOLATE WINE
Sociando Mallet is one of the most popular Chateaux that is not classified. It was a Cru Bourgeois but has since decided not to renew as they believe they produce a higher quality wine than most, and I agree!
This wine was full of black currants, black cherry, loads of vanilla and woody elements in the nose. But the real winner was the strong nose of chocolate that made you just want to keep smelling the wine. The palate was filled with chewy dark fruits, and vanilla. Very balanced wine!
