2002 Banfi Brunello di Montalcino
VERY DECENT FROM AN AVERAGE VINTAGE In my memory 2002 was quite a poor vintage in Brunello di Montalcino (please correct me if I'm wrong). I have kept this bottle in my cellar for a decade, having very low expectations on this label (the last one, 1999 was very disappointing). Turned out I loved the wine! Nose was the unique Brunello smell which I can't describe well, a bit of Xmas pudding and funky blueberries. The palette was surprisingly pleasant, very vanilla driven, but well integrated balance.
