2002 Egly Ouriet Millesime Grand Cru Brut
AWESOME GROWER!
Served blind, initially the nose was extremely muted, thereafter opened up slowly with some slight aged yeast character.
Consensus guess were all over the place whether it was a blend or not. Palate wise, it was extremely intense, great fruit quality, very ripe and forward, slight citrus, and opened up on the palate slowly but nicely.
I later learned that this was a grower champagne, albeit a very well known one. The vintage certainly played an important role as 2002 was the best!
