2003 Cuvee de Mon Aieul Chateauneuf du Pape
A really disastrous wine! I cannot understand how can Parker award a 97 to it? To me, it was quite a borderline garbage, sigh. The bouquet was already taken me aback with rustiness of steel, animal furs along with some Chinese herbs, a really big bouquet. The content was too big, I cannot find a trace of extraordinary purity as Parker put it, it was really difficult to drink it, I almost had to force it down my throat! There’s not even a trace of purity, it’s just a big, bold and muscular wine, so big and bold that I swear I will never want a second bottle again! The decanter was so filled with overloaded amount of sediments too. Perhaps the only saving grace I could have thought of was that I drank it too young, it might need another 20 years to tame down, but no matter what, it wouldn’t change my mind about the opinion I have formulated.
