2004 Chateau Carbonnieux Grand Cru Classe de Graves Blanc
DISAPPOINTING GRAVES BLANC
Graves produces one of the best Bordeaux whites in the Bordeaux region, be it the undefeated champion of Haut Brion Blanc, or the upcoming stars of Pape Clement Blanc, or the future stars of Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc. However, my hope is dashed on my first sip of this Carbonnieux Blanc; unripe fruits, more like raw mangoes, dominated the palette, along with typical character of honeycomb and refined woods. Looks like not all Graves Blanc can maintain the same high standards.
