2004 Joseph Drouhin Montrachet Grand Cru Marquis de Laguiche
ULTIMATE WHITE BURGUNDY
It wasn't an easy feat to claim the end of road for white burgundies, but I believe I have reached Mecca. In a lineup of Coche Dury Corton Charlemagne 01, Leflaive Chevalier Montrachet 89, Drouhin Marquis de Laguiche 89, this turned out to be the ultimate winner.
Nose of ever changing evolution: orange to butter to toffee to coffee then caramel and even Indian spice. Palate was ultra soft, great length, orange, orange peel, lean and tight. Surprisingly very Meursault character.
