Served double blind. A whiff I was screaming Italian, and possibly super Tuscans, alternatively it maybe some Napa Bordeaux blend. Medicinal and clinical nose to me which was very typical Italian.
A sip and I declare it as Merlot driven Italian wine, which narrowed down to just a few choices. My friend told me it was off, so I refocused on the rounded palate again, and the answer was clearer, either an Ornelliaia or a Solaia. Later learned that Ornellaia actually had only 25% merlot, shock!
