2005 Chateau Beychevelle Saint Julien
NOT AS EXPECTED
Normally coming from a great vintage like 2005, my expectations would run high, particularly Beychevelle as I have tasted many aged vintages of Beychevelle in the past, and they're almost always mind blowingly good.
But this 05 turned out to be really woody and slight nail varnish on the nose. Palate has got a really bright acidity and it was throwing the balance of the wine significantly, which somehow led to sourish notes. The saving grace was it's great finesse catching my attention.
