2005 Etienne Sauzet Puligny Montrachet 1er Les Referts
ON THE EDGE
After my session of 12 producers of Montrachets, my palate was totally ruined and spoiled. Now it’s really difficult for a premier cru to impress me.
This was almost borderline premox as the nose was strongly advanced.
Somehow there’s not enough acidity to back the body of this wine, plus it was quite forward, with no special characters. I always find that Etienne Sauzet produced the best Grand Cru wines but very hopeless premier cru wines. That’s my observation after drinking so much!
