2005 Henri Boillot
Puligny Montrachet
Premier Cru Les Perrieres
This is domaine bottled, not negociant sourced grapes, thus Boillot family would tender the vines by themselves. The Clos de la Mouchere, a monopole hallmark for Boillot’s wines, is probably the best 1er cru monopole I’ve ever come across. Clos de la Mouchere is a subset of the plot Les Perrieres, thus the high standard is also expected. Upon sniffing, I was taken aback by the fruity style, with strong hint of sweet honey and ripe fruits. Content reflected what the bouquet has revealed, very ripe fruits with loads of sweet fruity style, almost full bodied, with slightly understated acidity, the fruits were primary honey, mingled with obvious butterscotch as well, very ripe and forward. I do think this is a definitive Puligny Montrachet style, but not anywhere near Clos de la Mouchere quality.
