2005 Joseph Drouhin Montrachet Grand Cru Marquis de Laguiche
Served blind, a whiff and I already screaming Montrachet, as the high class oil character lingered. But I changed my mind after a sip, as the ultra high acidity didn’t quite come into balance with the fruits, plus I didn’t get much oak on the nose, swayed me towards Chablis. The ultra high acidity was really atypical, as the previous bottle I had was totally different. The nose ended up with popcorn, and I finally nailed it down as Marquis de Laguiche 08 despite my hesitation, not too bad.
