2006 Verget Chassagne Montrachet 1er Les Chenevottes
REVISITED
This was my 2nd bottle over a spread of a couple of months, and astonishingly vastly different notes. I guess the previous notes was written under the pretext of an overnight tasting, whereas tonight's bottle I finished it after uncorking.
Nose of elegant oak, comparable to a refined 1er Cru employed oak. Palate was rather forward and ripe, although it was with a balance of oak and acidity. I find the acidity moderate while the oak was a nice touch and balanced. Finished with a grilled fish.

APPEALING
Not often we come across Les Chenevottes, a plot not far away south of Le Montrachet plot in Chassagne Montrachet. We tasted over two days, it seemed the second day was tremendously satisfying. From a light fruit, slightly clinical and gunpowder nose to turn into a strong pomelo skin was astonishing enough. The initial palate of softness and mellow character morphing into engaging flavor with rich fruits, solid taste, and peppery after taste, was a good sign for this 1er cru.
