2007 Domaine Marcel Deiss Grand Cru Altenberg de Bergheim
WELL DESERVED
Altenburg from Deiss rightfully belonged to the Grand Cru level, one of the best in over 30 Alsace wines that I have tasted in the afternoon. Composed of 10 different grape varieties blend together, that's already a great achievement by itself to get the right balance!
Totally pineapple driven nose. Palate was almost like a Sauternes wine, extremely sweet, intense and very dry. However the wine had this charm that simply attracted wine connoisseur easily, I'm no good at describing it.
