2007 Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino
I baked a homemade pizza, and I have to select an Italian wine to go along, as it was always a tradition to drink Italian wine with Italian food. Without hesitation, I decanted the whole bottle but my pizza was ready before my wine was. Bouquet was full of dark fruits, very dense and concentrated. A sip and I was stunned, this was an extremely concentrated and powerful wine! It doesn’t have a lot of length, but the fruit layers were obvious. Very dense ripe cherries, albeit still have a searing tannins toward the finishing, signifying the wine still needs a couple more years to mature.
