2009 Francois Mikulski Meursault 1er Cru Perrieres

Upon pouring, the bouquet was with very ripe fruit profile, along with nice summer floral bouquet. However, the obvious character of orange juice was missing from this often found Perrieres character, nothing wrong, every winemaker’s style is different anyway. A sip and I fell in love with the content, totally awesome body, almost like drinking a freshly squeezed grape juice as if the wine was only produced yesterday! Great structured acidity with a great balance of fruits, coming in total harmony. It’s really difficult not to fall in love with such a well made Meursault Perrieres, plus the price is affordable, snap it up!

Served next to the Joseph Drouhin Marquis de Laguiche 05, obviously blind, it didn’t skip a beat! I didn’t give it 5 stars as it was slightly premox with sugarcane character when warmed up. Otherwise it was a superb premiere cru from Meursault. Nose of slight minerality and orange notes, palate was with superb ripeness along with alarming acidity, although both came in balance.
