2009 Smith Haut Lafitte Pessac Leognan
It was a really balanced wine with deep dark core of fruits, very intense fruits. You don’t feel the tannins very much as it’s somehow masked by the fruits, but if you dig a little deeper, you can actually taste the intense structure and massive tannins below the fruits. The most important aspect of this Smith Haut Lafitte 09 was the purity of the fruits, that not many producers can achieve such quality. I can only remember the greatness of Petrus 82 and Haut Brion 89 that can match the purity of Smith Haut Lafitte 09. For once, I have to agree with Parker that this wine deserves a full 100 point.
