2009 Verget Greves Beaune 1er Cru
MOST READY TO DRINK
In a past post I said Pommard needs time to tone down, hence I chose Beaune in a blindtasting with 3 Pommard wines as my top cos it was the most ready to drink. I was unaware of Beaune having a 1er cru plot and found out Grèves is known as one of the best!
It started out closed but kept getting better! It had slight nailvarnish, lots of ripe red fruits, raspberry, strawberry and oak on the nose. Palate was well balanced and easy but not as finessed as Pommard Rugiens. Great first try!
