I’m an advocate for En Remilly, be it Saint-Aubin or Chassagne-Montrachet production, as they’re just a road apart from each other. En Remilly is a plot right at the top of the hill, overlooking Chevalier Montrachet, a prime plot in my opinion. In addition, Olivier Lamy is a passionate and hard-working wine maker, thus the result is a good grade wine from a spectacular plot. A whiff and I detected very slight premox (a form of pre-matured oxidation which is common for burgundy). The yellowish color for a 12-year-old wine also confirmed my observation, thus a sip and I can detect very faint oxidation with character of ripe apple and butterscotch, not enough to turn me off, thus I continue to enjoy my drink. The most important aspect of an En Remilly is the piercing and precise acidity which is very characteristic of the plot. If you are not exposed to aged white burgundy, this bottle will show you a prime example of what to expect for a white burgundy that’s aged for two or three decades.
