2011 CVNE Vina Real Gran Reserva
Was expecting a tannic and grippy wine, so I used a broad based decanter and decanted it for 1 hour. On my first sip, it was so forward and fruity that it was very drinkable, not very Spanish Gran Reserva style, which usually are big, oaky and undrinkable at 8 years old. I do enjoy the forward fruitiness of this wine, very fruity and bold. Unlike many Spanish Gran Reserva, I do not think this can be aged for 50 years, more like a decade or two at best. Really made for early consumption. So, don’t wait, pop open the bottles and have some Iberico ham to go along with it!
