2013 Fumagalli Sud Sud Sud Merlot Barrique
MERLOT CHARACTER
For merlot based wines, I normally would expect rounded and forward style as the grape has less tannins and riper than the more hardy Cabernet Sauvignon.
This bottle wasn’t fitting into my description at the start. Nose was green. Palate was dry and also very green and raw. I had to decant the remaining bottle to soften it up. Eventually it did taste better and rounder, but still having the greenness in the content. Perhaps grape picking started too early!
