2013 Le Petit Haut Lafitte Pessac Leognan Blanc
LEMON ZEST
I very seldom disliked wines from Smith Haut Lafitte vineyard, not that I'm biased as I knew the owners, just that I had so many fantastic recent vintages from this house. This was the first recent disappointment despite the fact that this was the 2nd label of their wine.
Huge lemon skin and zest gave me a big shock on my initial sip, followed by highly elevated acidity. The nose wasn't impressive neither, again lemon zest driven. Quite disappointed. Was 2013 a poor white Bordeaux vintage?
