2013 Ridge Vineyards Monte Bello

The Monte Bello label of Ridge is always made with selection of their best plots from that vintage. In 2013, only 1 lot of Merlot was included for 5% of the blend. This was apparently given 100 points by decanter magazine.
The nose was a mix of black berry, black currant, coffee notes, and even hints of minty chocolate. On the palate, the tannin just showed how big of a wine this is. Definitely not ready! I’m tempted to buy a bottle to revisit. Surprising Californian wine that isnt from Napa!
