2015 Verget Bourgogne Grand Elevage
EXCEPTIONAL VILLAGE WINE
Didn't have much expectations on a Bourgogne as usually mostly disappointing unless it's a Coche Dury. This one punches way above it's weight, I was impressed.
Grapes were mainly sourced from Pierreclos & Bussieres; nose of big sweet fruits, almost tropical plus peaches. Palate was rich, expansive and bold, although the finishing was slightly short but more than made it up by the stylish fruits. Very controlled oaks, certainly felt more like a 1er cru from Puligny Montrachet!
