2016 Chateau Guiraud Sauternes 1er Grand Cru Classe
SAUTERNES 2016
This label was my first sip and first impression on Bordeaux's sweet wine Sauternes. Frankly Guiraud has been improving in their quality leaps and bounds these few years, notably 2011 was a mind blower.
The 2016 couldn't match the 2011, but possessed great characters as well. Fairly muted initially but the tropical fruits showed strongly thereafter. Palate was again tropical fruits, particularly pineapple. Very decent length and particularly strong fruits on the finish.
