2016 Paul Pillot Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs Gains
I didn’t feel this plot deserve a 1er Cru status, as from the content I probably judged this as a borderline quality between a village and a Lieux Dit. I have always mentioned Paul Pillot’s winemaking skill excels in making white burgundies with fresh and lively acidity, and this Les Champs Gains was not an exception, as the acidity was very lively. The weakness I had about this wine was the lack of obvious fruits, not that it has no fruits, but it was really faint, consistently shadowing the acidity and hidden in the background.
