2018 Aegerter Meursault Le Clous
I have reviewed previous vintages of 2017 here and 2016 here. The rating of this wine has been upgraded, as I must confess the 2018 is one of the best I’ve ever come across; the bouquet reminiscent of walking into a field of lemon plants, smelled more like the prized top Meursault plot wines from Les Perrieres rather than a village Meursault, at later stage I can also decipher butter notes, implying some oak in play. Content was leaps and bounce compared to previous vintages, reflecting that Paul Aegerter’s winemaking skill has improved tremendously. The wine was very clean and transparent, and more importantly the acidity is fresh and lively. Definitely way beyond a village level wine, easily can compete with a 1er Cru quality.
