2018 Domaine Rapet Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru

Corton Charlemagne is known to be ultra long live, it ages like a glacier. The oldest bottle of Corton Charlemagne I have drank was 1949, and it tasted as if it was produced last year! Armed with such knowledge, for this young vintage, I decided to decant it for at least 4 hours in the cellar. Obviously helps mellow down the content and elevate the body. First off, the bouquet is quite interesting with moderate complexity; lemon juice and lemon custard blended well with balance, plus faint smoke and some remnants of oak barrel notes. Body is complex and compact, like a well developed body builder. Thick juice flows through the palate without resistance, but one can feel the weight of a Grand Cru content. The content gets better when it gets warm up in the glass and I finish my last sip not of red, but white!
