2019 Jean Dauvissat Chablis Premier Cru Cote de Lechet
A very interesting wine, and I drank it right next to Jean Dauvissat’s top plot Fourchaume. One really has to have a good palate to identify the differences between the two. If I have described Fourchaume as feminine, then I will use masculine to describe Cote de Lechet, the fruits are definitely much riper, with a very pronounced floral character of white flowers, there’s also an obvious ripe lime character shadowing the floral characters, making it multi-dimensional, except that the finishing is not as long as Fourchaume, and the lingering effect (or rather the tongue penetrating after-taste) is relatively short. Bear in mind that 2019 is a great vintage, as the acidity is a killer character of the wine. I’d urge drinkers to drink both of them side by side while reading my notes, you may discover some gems in these Chablis wines!
