2019 Pierre Amiot Et Fils Morey Saint Denis Premier Cru Les Millandes

This premier cru plot Les Millandes is one of the largest climats in Morey-Saint-Denis, known for it’s structured and elegance with firm tannins. Bouquet was very ripe and forward, with a kind of stewed fruits. Content wise, I was in slight disagreement with the plot’s default character of being structured, as my gut feel was, this was a big wine by any standard, yet it was more of a fruity wine rather than a structured wine. There were many shades of flavor with the wine, easily being a blend of cherries, strawberries, plum and even a hint of red dragon fruits! Very appealing fruits, I kept revisiting my glass throughout the evening. There were sandy tannins lurking around, and I much prefer to keep the wines for a few more years before consumption. Afterall, 2019 vintage was a big vintage, there was no doubt the wine can be aged for two to three decades. Production was very limited, thus our allocation was equally limited.
