2021 Veiga Naum Rías Baixas Albarino
Bodegas Riojanas is a grand old names of Rioja, they have been producing wines since 1890. This Rias Baixas coming from Spain has been recognized widely by wine critics. The wine producer was so proud of it they had a sticker on the bottle that says “91 points from Decanter.” While I may not be fully agreeable with Decanter, I find the wine is lively and fun to drink. A good bouquet to start off with, a blend of orange blossom as well as a composite of variety of fruits. The character of Albarino is quite well expressed with this wine, almost a cross-breed of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, as the sharp taste and elevated acidity was undoubtedly very Sauvignon Blanc, while the fruity aspect was very similar to new world Chardonnay. Probably a worthwhile try for an adventurous ride over different grape varietals.
