At 59.3% alcoholic strength, this is not for the faint hearted! Even a seasoned drinker like me, this whisky still give me a heart burn, although the warm heart feeling is great! Drinking next to Laphroaig 30 years old, this Kilkkeran is not far away from Laphroaig; the elegance of the content is almost akin to drinking melted butter (as it’s probably heavily aged in oak barrels). The beauty of this whisky is the much loved peat and smokiness, otherwise it won’t call itself as heavily peated whisky.
