FIRST GROWTH CALIBRE?
Bear in mind Mouton Rothschild was still a second Growth prior to 1973. I must give credit to the then owner to get the French government to endorse this label as a First Growth. I tasted 1970, 1971 and 1975, three vintages that crossed the controversial era.
Frankly, I have my reservations about Mouton's promotion, as I think it should still rightfully belong to and Lalande be First Growth.
Anyway, 75 was powerful and masculine, followed by 71 and finally 70.
