NTUC Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP) For WSET Courses

What is the Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP)?

UTAP is a training benefit designed to help NTUC members and NTUC Starter members offset their training costs. It encourages members to upgrade their skills and pursue reskilling opportunities. The NTUC Starter Membership supports youth aged 18 to 25 as they transition from school to the workforce. 

NTUC members can receive
50% support on unfunded course fees, up to $250 per year for UTAP-supported courses. 


Members aged 40 and above enjoy increased funding support of up to $500 per year. 

NTUC Starter members can claim 50% support on unfunded course fees, up to $200 per year.

Case Study One:

PK Chua is a 45 Year Singaporean and he is interested to in taking WSET Level 2 Award In Wines. He would like to use both his Skillsfuture credits and NTUC UTAP subsidy.

Course Fee: $1090
Skillsfuture Credits: -$500
Total Payable In Cash: $590

After he passes the course he will submit his invoice and result slip to NTUC UTAP to claim his course fee.

Total Paid in Cash: $590
NTUC UTAP Subsidy (50% of Cash Paid): $295

PK Chua will receive $295 from NTUC UTAP when his subsidy application is approved.


Case Study Two:


Jimmy Lim is a 45 year foreigner and is a NTUC UNION Member. He is interested to in taking WSET Level 2 Award In Wines. 


Course Fee: $1090​
Total Payable In Cash: $1090

After he passes the course he will submit his invoice and result slip to NTUC UTAP to claim his course fee.

Total Paid in Cash: $1090
NTUC UTAP Subsidy (50% of Cash Paid): $500

Jimmy Lim will only receive $500 (instead of $545) from NTUC UTAP when his subsidy application is approved as the maximum payout of NTUC UTAP is $500/year.

Who Can Apply?

NTUC UNION MEMBERSHIP CARD WSET
All NTUC and NTUC Starter UNION members can apply for UTAP provided they meet the following criteria:

✔ The course must commence or be completed by 30 March 2027

✔ The member must submit a WSET certificate as proof of completion of the course with a minimum of 75% attendance.

✔ Claims must be submitted via the UTAP system within 6 months of course completion.

✔ The NTUC Union membership must be active before the course begins, throughout its duration, and at the time of claim submission.
✔ The member must not have received full funding through company sponsorship or other grants.

How to Submit a UTAP Claim?

1️⃣ Check for UTAP-supported courses.

2️⃣ Register for the course with a training provider and attend the training.

3️⃣ Log in with Singpass and submit your NTUC UTAP claim within 6 months of course completion.
