Normally the producer of a grower champagne also owns the land where the champagne is produced, thus the champagne is very terroir sensitive, as well as the vintage. Thus it's difficult to make a consistent year in, year out champagne.
Green apples sending shivers down my spine, I never liked extreme sourness, but this champagne must have done everything against my palate as both the nose and palate was totally dominated by raw green apples that covered up the taste of the champagne.
