NV Montelvini Valdobbiadene DOCG
Extra Dry Prosecco
The Serena family, who owns Montelvini, has been in the wine making business for 130 years in Italy’s Veneto region. This is a sparkling wine from Veneto, Italy, made from 100% Glera grape varietal. Generally speaking, I’m not a big fan of Prosecco, in fact, it’s really difficult to find anything from the rest of the world to drink right next to champagne, thus my choice of sparkling is nailed firmly with champagnes. This Valdobbiadene style is closer to Bordeaux produced sparkling wines, or rather Cremant de Bordeaux, with some slight sweetness in the content. Even the bouquet was very similar to Alsace Gewurztraminer style, with undisputable freshly cut pineapple prominently featured. It seems that Valdobbiadene has infused excessive amount of bubbles, as my every sip has about 50% of the content dissipated as bubbles, leaving very little real wine substance.
