Wine With Bok - 9.5/10 Stars
d’Ambonnay is a very well-known Grand Cru village in champagne, there are many well-known champagne houses from d’Ambonnay, e.g. Krug, Duval Leroy, Mumm, Piper Heidsieck, Pol Roger, Roederer … etc. Saint-Reol is a cooperative by polling 58 champagne producers with excellent champagne making skills to make their champagnes, thus quality is assured. This is a blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, along with 13% wines without going through malolactic fermentation. Dosage of 8g/L. Decanter in 2022 gave this wine a score of 97 points. The journey of tasting the bottle is quite amazing, as there’s an evolutionary path from first sip to the final glass. Initially, the champagne started off with huge amount of minerality, very steely and metallic. Along the way, it started to morph into another personality, turning more mellow, fruity, elegant and extremely fresh. A well worth drinking session with lasting impression. 2012 is a great vintage for champagnes, buy and keep it for another decade and you will not regret your purchasing decision when you pop it open in 2032! Decanter World Wines Award 2023 - 97 Points (Platinum Award)
A super aroma of fresh pastries, apples, pears, and an underlying red fruit salad. Youthful and quite reserved, with delicate yeasty notes developing along with some interesting umami, white chocolate, and pine nut complexity. Fresh and lean with a delicate note of fresh herbs. (6/2022)
