The 2023 Aegerter Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Plateaux reflects the legacy of Jean-Luc Aegerter, who acquired this domaine’s very first vineyard in 1994—a 1.17-hectare single plot in this emblematic climat—and whose work, now continued by his son Paul, has grown into a 50-hectare estate rooted across Burgundy’s finest appellations. Sourced from argilo-calcaire soils in one of Nuits-Saint-Georges’ classic village sites, this 100% Pinot Noir is hand-harvested in multiple passes, destemmed, and given a short cold maceration before vat fermentation and 10 months of ageing in oak, 40% new. Brilliant cherry red in colour, it opens with aromas of black and forest fruits. The palate shows the firm, slightly austere structure typical of youthful Nuits-Saint-Georges, with a dense, promising finish that will unfurl beautifully with time in bottle
