2023 Domaine Amiot Morey St Denis 1er Cru Les Charrieres - 750ml
“Charrières” comes from Old French, derived from “char” (cart or chariot), describing a road suitable for horses, riders, and wheeled vehicles. This historic climat in Morey-Saint-Denis is distinguished by the route that crosses it, climbing from the plain to meet what is now known as the Route des Grands Crus, the famous wine road of the Côte de Nuits. The vines are east to south-east facing at around 260 meters elevation on shallow soils composed of clay, silt, and sand. Les Charrières lies on the north of Morey, just below the grand cru Clos de la Roche, positioned between the climats Le Clos des Ormes and Les Faconnières, giving it a privileged and finely balanced environment. All work in the vineyard and cellar is adapted to each vintage to craft the finest wines while preserving the typicity of this terroir. The wine is aged in oak barrels with 30% new wood, allowing added depth without overshadowing origin. The wine shows an exemplary balance of suppleness, freshness, and ripe tannins. It offers fragrant fruit on the nose and a well-structured, generous palate with remarkably supple tannic texture, making it gourmand, approachable, and easy to enjoy, with a charming, full finish.
