Château Mont-Redon is the largest landowner in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, boasting 100 hectares of prime vineyards. More than half of these vineyards are planted on “diluvium alpin” soil on the high Mistral-blown plateaus, at elevations above 500 feet. The region is renowned for its “galets”—round, heat-absorbing pebbles shaped by the Rhône River over millennia. These unique conditions force the vine roots deep into the soil, producing Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre wines that are rich, powerful, and full-bodied. The remaining vineyards are divided between sandy soils and Urgonian limestone soils.
