Pierre Morey
Pierre Morey is considered to be one of the finest winemakers in Burgundy, with a family heritage in winemaking that dates back to the sixteenth century. Every generation of his family has been involved in Burgundian winemaking and Pierre continued the lineage when he started working in vineyards at the age of 10, alongside his father Auguste. Pierre established his domaine in 1971 and has managed it in parallel alongside his prized role as head winemaker at the iconic Domaine Leflaive. During his 20 years at Domaine Leflaive, which culminated in 2008, Pierre and Anne-Claude Leflaive made huge advances in the use of biodynamics. Pierre turned his own vineyards organic in 1991, following organic practices until 1997 and then in 1998, the domaine became 100% biodynamic. The vineyards extend for 11 hectares, distributed in different areas located in the districts of Monthelie, Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet, and Meursault. Today, Pierre manages this renowned domaine alongside his daughter Anne. The négociant business, Maison Morey-Blanc, was established in 1992 to complete the wine list offered by Domaine Pierre Morey. Purity, minerality and longevity are the watchwords here, and the quality is always exceptional.
