Ramonet
Ramonet began with Pierre Ramonet, who in the 1920s, travelled to Burgundy with nothing but his knapsack and started buying grapes and vinifying them to make some money. After he was able to earn some money, he finally bought his first vineyard, the great Ruchottes in 1934 in Chassagne Montrachet. What put Pierre Ramonet on the map is the fact that his 1934 Chassagne Montrachet 1er cru wine was the first estate bottled white Burgundy to be imported into the United States by Frank M. Schoonmaker. This made Domaine Ramonet very famous and shot them up to stardom in the whole Burgundy region.
