The exceptional wine-maker Jean-Marie Guffens is the visionary behind Maison Verget, a winery that sources grapes primarily from Mâconnais, but also across Burgundy. Established in 1990 in Sologny, Maison Verget brings together a remarkable range of appellations, from Chablis to Mâconnais, each reflecting the unique characteristics and nuances of its terroir. Maison Verget's wines are renowned for their refined, diamond-like precision—exemplifying purity, richness, and tension in every bottle. The grapes are carefully selected from top-tier partner vineyards, and the winemaking and aging processes are carried out with meticulous attention to detail. Jean-Marie Guffens-Heynen has earned a reputation as a true master of Chardonnay in Burgundy. Since 2012, the talented oenologist Julien Desplans, who trained at the prestigious Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, has joined Guffens as cellar master. Under his guidance, Maison Verget has reached new heights, culminating in the award for “Trading Business of the Year” in 2020 by the esteemed French wine magazine, La Revue du vin de France.
