2019 Philippe Colin Chassagne Montrachet vs 2018 Jean Dauvissat Chablis Heritage
Recall that Jean Dauvissat Heritage was produced from old vines, planted 60 to 70 years ago, and the key point is that the wine flavor is deep, full of flavor, plus the acidity is stunning with lively, sharp and focus. One of the best village level wines you can buy. Philippe Colin Chassagne Montrachet bottle is aged in 25% new wood, mostly in 450 and 500 litre barrels. Bear in mind that Heritage has only gone through malolactic fermentation, but no oak play, thus the wine is really unadulterated, and expression of the fruit play. However, a few glasses and one can easily fall in love with the Philippe Colin Chassagne Montrachet as the buttery taste made the wine much more feminine and soft, it did not overly express itself with oak play, just a touch and it does change the presentation vastly. For those who are in doubt please feel free to make comparison between no oak and oak aged wines.
