2016 Didier Dagueneau Pouilly Fume Pur Sang
My wife insisted she smelled horse tail bouquet that’s exactly identical to our natural mattress that’s also composed of horse tail, perhaps she was being influenced by the label of the horse on Pur Sang? I could not identify the unique bouquet of horse tail, although I get a lot of summer floral fragrance as well as lemon peel when the wine warmed up slightly. Content was stunning, soft and a light touch with a really balanced acidity. I have tasted many past vintages produced by Didier Dagueneau himself, and I’m really glad the same winemaking style was inherited by his son Louis Benjamin, Pur Sang continued to live it’s legendary style. In all fairness, I have not come across any producer that can produce a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc with such softness and a light touch, thus credit must be given to Didier Dagueneau for producing such a stunning wine with such a hardly grape varietal.
